The Dog Who Loved Too Much: Tales, Treatments and the Psychology of Dogs
Do you have a problem pooch? What do you do with a dog who attacks the telephone whenever it rings? Or one who chases imaginary rabbits down imaginary holes? Or one who is terrified of microblinds...or turns into Cujo every time company arrives? In this warm, compassionate, entertaining, and very informative book, Dr. Nicholas Dodman, one of the premier veterinary behaviorists in the country, tells real-life stories from his practice that illustrate his unique approach to correcting unwanted behaviors. By making key changes in a dog's diet, exercise regime, environment, and training, Dr. Dodman has been able to work wonders with even the most difficult problems. Utilizing revolutionary discoveries in canine behaviorism and pharmacology, Dr. Dodman has given hope and help to owners whose only previous options were obedience schools, or if these failed--euthanasia. Whether you own a problem dog or just want to better understand the complex, intelligent mind of your canine companion, this is a book you won't want to miss..

Voices of Conflict; Voices of Healing: A Collection of Articles By a Much-Loved Philadelphia Inquirer Columnist
Compassionate, Wise, Insightful These are words frequently used to describe Dan Gottlieb's bimonthly column in the Philadelphia Inquirer. This psychologist and host of critically acclaimed "Voices in the Family", heard locally on public radio, has been offering his perspective and gentle guidance to readers for nearly a decade. His columns are scientifically grounded, sometimes deeply personal and always touching. In addition to responding to readers "Dear Dr. Dan" letters, Gottlieb sometimes talks about his life as a quadriplegic, father, grandfather and son of his own 88-year-old father. In that process, he uses of his own tragedies and triumphs to help us all understand more about what it means to be human. These are some of his most vibrant and touching columns covering areas of life important to all of us. The book opens with an exploration of some of today's issues such as stepfamilies, happiness, and the anxiety of living in today's world. He also covers relationships, children, and coping with difficult emotions. His book continues with some poignant columns about loss and concludes with several columns that help us understand and celebrate the human spirit. .

Dinky Toys: much loved Dinky Toys of the 1950s
Dinky Toys must be some of the most successful and collectable toys ever made. In an affectionate tribute, each model is given its own delightful setting, reflecting a more gentle and innocent era. Visual puns abound: The Landrover, "a fine model of a vehicle designed to go anywhere and do anything," climbs its way up a staircase, while the Avro York Airliner takes off from the ironing board. An open-top sports car zooms along, fighting the gale-force winds of an electric fan. A sophisticated and stylish design book, this is the ideal gift for the postwar baby boomer. .

HORACE AND A GAME TO PLAY 418 BIBLIOGRAPHY 425 FOREWORD THE little papers now collected under the title Much Loved Books were first printed serially in the Chicago Tribune under the title Best Sellers of the Ages. With the Tribunes cordial per mission they now are used in book form. The idea of a series of brief, unassuming articles which should emphasize the deathless news value of great books of ancient and modern times had its origin with the editors of the Tribune. That idea was worked out along the lines of an assignment to a newspaper reporter. In revising the articles for book form an effort has been made not to blur the thought which was the reason for the assignment the thought that the songs of Homer and the meditations of Thoreau still are good news.
