Excluded Books of the Bible
WHY WERE THESE SACRED TEXTS HIDDEN FROM THE WORLD FOR CENTURIES -- WHY DOES THE CHURCH WANT TO KEEP THIS INFORMATION FROM THE FAITHFUL??? This volume is as fascinating as The Da Vinci Code and Holy Blood, Holy Grail, and yet the information contained within its large size, 8xll pages, has been hidden from view because it is thought to reveal it would charge the course of history and the way people think of Jesus and the Christian faith. Learn the history of the discovery of a cache of manuscripts in Egypt that has changed forever the way we perceive the life of Jesus Christ. This book is right out of today's headlines as it asks: O Did Judas consciously do the will of God when he betrayed Jesus to the Romans, and thus has history judged Christ's betrayer too harshly? O Did Jesus love Mary Magdalene in a decidedly physical and even sexual way? Was she his favorite disciple much preferred over an envious group of male followers? O Did Jesus have foreknowledge of a future generation, one that would be beset by wars and political turmoil? O Are we to await the coming of a new breed of children prophesied in both he Gnostic scriptures and by the prophet Nostradamus? O What did Adam himself have to say about his fall from grace and how does this tie in with the coming of the Illuminator and where does he come from? And why dos he continue to do battle with the Maker Of All That Is? About the Author A frequent contributor to national magazines, a popular talk show guest, Sean Casteel has written several other titles including: "UFOs, Prophecy And the End Of Time" and "Signs and Symbols of the Second Coming." .

God and the Excluded: Visions and Blindspots in Contemporary Theology
Theology is fracturing along tension lines once hidden by the great modern consensus that reigned from Schleiermacher's day till our own. Now, all of it is in dispute: its starting point, its self-awareness, its claim to truth, its method and interaction with other disciplines and institutions in church, academy and society. Rieger offers an enlightening way to understand the chief strands or options in theology today and a valuable proposal for resituating theology around the crucial issue of inclusion. He sees four competing vectors at work in Christian today's theology: Theology of Identity (liberal theology, represented by Schleiermacher and founded in the self), Theology of Difference (dialectical theology, represented by Barth and founded in the Wholly Other), Theology and the Postmodern (postcritical theology, represented by Lindbeck and founded on the text), and Theology and the Underside (liberation theologies, represented by North American feminist theology). Further, Rieger goes on to propose that each of these is in some way exclusionary and elitist; the mass of humanity and the globe's most pressing problems do not invade this cathedral, and in some ways the market itself has replaced God. Religious thought can remain viable only when it is grounded in an openness that reaches beyond the global market and postmodern squabbles, critiques its own complicity in the situation, and resituates itself in express commitment to those left out of today's "gated community.".

Innocent Bystanders: Implications of an EUIndia Free Trade Agreement for Excluded Countries
The European Union, under its “Global Europe” initiative, has since 2006 been pursuing trade agreements with its major global trading partners. An EU–India Free Trade Agreement is currently under negotiation; if successfully concluded it is likely to have knock-on effects on other countries’ trade with both India and the EU, the trade of the “innocent bystanders” excluded from the agreement. The authors consider the implications of the EU–India Free Trade Agreement for various groups of other countries, including the ACP countries and those in South Asia, the latter group being most strongly impacted. The analysis considers not only trade in goods but also trade in services, and focuses not only on quantities but also on the prices at which trade is conducted. The authors, L. Alan Winters and others at the Centre for the Analysis of Regional Integration at Sussex, then consider how excluded countries might respond to the Free Trade Agreement, both at an individual level and at a systemic level..

Curves to the Apple: The Reproduction of Profiles, Lawn of Excluded Middle, Reluctant Gravities
Three pivotal works conceived by the avant-garde poet as a trilogy and now together in one volume at last. Rosmarie Waldrop's Curves to the Apple brings together three highly praised and influential titles: The Reproduction of Profiles, Lawn of Excluded Middle, and Reluctant Gravities. Though originally published separately, these prose poems have always been intended as a loose trilogy of thought and feeling or of thought manifested as feeling. The author comments: "Just as the title Curves to the Apple combines the organic and geometry (not to mention myth and history of science) the poems navigate the conflicting, but inextricable claims of body and mind, especially the female body and feelings in a space of logic and physics. The poems could all be called dialogic, reaching out across a synaptic (sometimes humorous) gap to a possible 'you' (though it may be rhetorical, another point of view in the same mind). But while the 'I' dominates the first two volumes, the third gives both voices equal space and chance." .

"Dropping Out," Drifting Off, Being Excluded: Becoming Somebody Without School (Adolescent Cultures, School & Society, V. 22.)
This book deals with one of the most urgent, damaging, and complex issues affecting young lives and contemporary society in general—the escalating high school dropout rate. Though against the wishes of teachers and school administrators, young people’s decision to leave school is usually made under circumstances that provide little time or space for discussion. This book provides a disturbing account of how students’ voices are over-ridden—lost in the imposition of curriculum and the rush to impose testing, accountability, and management regimes on schools. Dropping Out, Drifting Off, Being Excluded reveals the complex stories that surround identity formation in young lives and the "interactive trouble" as young people struggle to be heard within inhospitable schools and an equally unhelpful education system..

Right to Learn: Educational Strategies for Socially Excluded Youth in Europe
Evidence has shown that individuals leaving school without qualifications are four times more likely to be unemployed than those with qualifications Preventing and combatting unemployment therefore requires active measures both in the labour market and in the institutions responsible for preparing the future workforce - educational institutions. Attempts to remedy this problem have so far largely neglected children from socially excluded families - one of the most vulnerable groups in education. This book explores a wide range of strategies, both at the policy level and in the field, to improve educational success among such disadvantaged children, taking stock of good practice in a selection of EU member states, chosen to reflect the diversity in systems and policies that currently exist. The book suggests that a number of strategies are effective and feasible. The authors recommend that a sufficiently powerful opinion movement is needed to promote the transfer of experience and action on different levels. They conclude with several suggestions for good practice - not just equal opportunity and equal treatment but also equal outcomes strategies. The text should be useful for teachers, school administrators, educational researchers, policy makers, NGOs, parents' associations, those engaged in youth services and teacher training, and in formulating policies to secure the social integration of the young generation. The book reports on important research, funded by the European Commission, which explores a wide range of strategies, both at the policy level and in the field, to improve educational success among disadvantaged children. The countries studied include Belgium, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK. These countries were chosen to reflect the diversity in systems and policies that currently exist. Conclusions are drawn with respect to the relative success of different approaches and suggestions for good practice are made..
