From the supplier: U.S. Rep. Bob Filner, D-CA, introduced a bill to protect churches' fire insurance coverage in the wake of the 1996 outbreak of arson attacks on houses of worship. The bill would prevent insurance companies from canceling or changing the fire insurance policies of houses of worships, and would guarantee that churches which are the victims of arson are not held responsible by their insurers. Rep. Filner claimed that the four-point plan created by the industry was inadequate.

From the supplier: Association executives must ensure that they include cancellation clauses in contracts between convention facilities and their associations. The latter become liable when they cancel their conventions and cancellation clauses can minimize the amount payable to the facility involved. These provisions should consider low attendance risks and acts beyond the control of either contracting parties, construction within the facility and deterioration of site conditions. Meanwhile, a cancellation insurance can also alleviate the financial burden brought about by cancelled association activities.
