CHOCK FULL O'NUTS CORP.: International Competitive Benchmarks and Financial Gap Analysis (Financial Performance Series)
The goal of this report is to assist managers in gauging a company's financial performance vis--vis firms competing in the same sector, at the global level. In particular, this report covers CHOCK FULL O'NUTS CORP., NEW YORK, USA.

With the globalization of markets, greater foreign competition, and the reduction of entry barriers, it becomes all the more important to benchmark a company's performance against other firms on a worldwide basis. Doing so, however, is not an obvious task. First, one needs to find firms competing in the same sector. Second, one needs to control for exchange rate volatility. Finally, one needs use comparable financial standards. This report overcomes these issues and gives full financial benchmarks vis--vis worldwide competitors who are present in the same narrow industrial classification. Benchmarks cover assets, liabilities, income and ratios. Since our reports are printed on demand, the figures available are for the latest quarter and are the most up to date available (4 reports are produced each year)..

Why not chock-full employment? (20th Anniversary Issue): An article from: Atlantic Economic Journal
This digital document is an article from Atlantic Economic Journal, published by Atlantic Economic Society on March 1, 1994. The length of the article is 3732 words. From the author: Needlessly high levels of unemployment are a contributing factor to a wide range of social ills, which would be substantially alleviated by driving unemployment to a low level of about 1.5 percent. This will require substantial increases in government deficits and debt. Recent trends in the ratio of private profit-seeking invested capital to GDP have been steady or slightly downward, while the ratio to GDP of desired private asset holdings has been growing, leaving a gap that must be filled by a growing government debt if GDP is to grow rapidly to a full employment level. The corresponding deficits are the means whereby the flow of income payments is enhanced, market demand increased, full employment is achieved and a corresponding expansion of private investment induced, leaving future generations to enjoy an enhanced heritage of capital in place and a more experienced work force. Meeting debt service payments from a prosperous economy will be less onerous than meeting current debt service requirements from an economy in the doldrums. If inflation becomes a problem, it must be taken care of by methods that do not involve unemployment, such as the use of marketable gross markup warrants. (JEL E6)
